Alure Home Improvements is known for leading the way Long Island’s green remodeling movement, but recently they were called upon by The Rachael Ray Show to do a different type of makeover … John Stamos’ dressing room at the Henry Miller Theater for his hit broadway play “Bye Bye Birdie”! Alure’s team, with the help of HGTV’s Carter Oosterhouse came up with some great concepts make Stamos’ dressing room completely eco friendly. Tune in this wednesday to see how the transformation went!

Sal Ferro, Alure Home Improvements President Honored as “Green” Company Advocate by Long Island Association

The Long Island Association, the largest business organization in New York, honored Alure Home Improvements President Sal Ferro for his environmentally friendly products and practices.
At the LIA’s Small Business Council Executive breakfast Tuesday, September 15, Ferro was recognized in the category of “Green Company Advocate.”
Alure, a seven time re-modeler for ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition, is taking a leadership role in the eco-friendly movement by providing green building projects and home performance audits with remodeling services to remedy any identified issues. These products and services enable the East Meadow-based company’s clients to be green by:
- Seeing eco-friendly products on display in the Alure Showroom and learning how these products minimize environmental impact and make your home healthier.
- Choosing sustainable materials for home remodeling projects done by Alure.
- Educating our clients about the cost of green products—today’s products can cost the same or less than older technologies.
- Providing tips on simple things you can do to green your home (see HOME TIPS below).
- Conducting Home Performance Assessments under the federal Energy Star Program to identify where your home is losing energy and how to stop it. See the Home Performance page on this web site for more information.
Ferro joined other honorees such as Dr. Hubert Keen, Farmingdale State College, for his education advocacy and Paula Geonie, Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyards, for her advocacy for women in business.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in search of LI Family

Word on the street is that Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is looking to come back to Long Island and apparently, they are still searching for the right Long Island family to feature on it’s show.
To be eligible: A family must own their own single family home and be able to show producers how a makeover will make a huge difference in their lives. Interested families or those who wish to nominate another family should e-mail a short description of their family story to:

• The names and ages of each member of the household
• A description of the major challenges within the home
• Explanation of why this family is deserving, heroic, or a positive role model in their community
• Photos of the family and a photo of the home

They brought in Alure Home Improvement’s own Sal Ferro to help navigate and educate customers through some of the new exciting products OC has to offer. Your in luck! This weekend we are showcasing a rather unique sunsuite. The image you see above is from the beginning stages of the project where we had just layed a slab. Before completion, the homeowners decided they wanted to use the room mainly for a jacuzzi. Once the jacuzzi was in place, Alure came back for the finishing stages of the new Owens Corning Sunsuite.

2009 Alure Partner Points Trip

A group of 26 people are set to depart for the 2009 Alure Partner Points Trip to the Riviera Maya in Mexico. This years trip is from Saturday February 28th until March 7th. We will offer some updates with photos of this years trip via the blog while we are actually away. We hope that this will inspire you to get involved with the program so you can be the next winner of this fabulous trip!
